I am Helen Cuthbert, a retired Church of Scotland Minister now living in Kilmarnock, Scotland after eleven and a half very fulfilling years as Parish Minister in New Cumnock, Ayrshire. Before going into Ministry, my working life was in Education as a French teacher in a Scottish Secondary school then as a Trainer of secondary school English Teachers in Sudan with Voluntary Service Overseas, the British Council and, for most of the time with the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Education. I spent 12 very ‘happy and fulfilling’ years in Sudan! After returning to Scotland in the late 1990’s I was a self-employed piano teacher for a number of years before going into the Minister. I was also a student teacher in France for a year and an exchange teacher to Kentucky, also for a year.
Outside work, my main interests include music, writing poems and songs (serious and silly!), local histroy, being a Face Book follower and savouring the ‘retired life’ of lunches, coffees, life in the slower lane. I still preach on occasions and write materials for worship.
